Zjawiska/Actions
A selection of multimedia installations, transmedia performances, and sound-based artworks, takes us on a journey through local soundscapes, communities, and collaborations between human and non-human actors. Multiple actions like listening, collecting, recording, building, editing, and composing, transform found sounds into sound environments and found objects into sculpture and upcycled industrial/fashion media art objects. All of these ethereal findings introduce us to a world of Łódź’s micro-stories that are not told but picked, signals that are detected, recorded, played, and remixed in a post-industrial space filled with potential sonic artifacts and reusable objects that appear to be ubiquitous fragments of an unrelated past.
The actions that we present are also intensely experimental. The artists dissect elements of the immateriality of sound and urban memories, they retweak analog media and formats, and they build and model layers of interpretation of urban living experience that in the space of this festival are open to being experienced, contested and immersed within.
